During the days of August 24, 25, 26, and 27, we will hold our sacred Sun Dance before the Tree of Life, within the ceremonial circle of AyaPuma Samay, at the foothills of Taita Imbabura.
This is one of the Sun Dances closest to the sun that exists in the world. At this altar, dancers, walkers of the spirit, and families from different places gather to present our chanupas, renew our commitments, strengthen our alliances, and pray for the health, peace, and well-being of our families and communities.
The Sun Dance is a path of discipline, prayer, beauty, and devotion. Framed within the principles of Sumak Kawsay, this celebration honors the time of harvest, abundance, life, and the balance between human beings and nature.
The ceremonies will be led by Santiago Andrade León together with the ceremonial family of AyaPuma Samay.
Dancers participating in the ceremony should bring their dance regalia, ceremonial skirts, prayers, and personal elements for the spiritual work.
The purification temazcales for dancers will begin on August 17, 18, 19, and 20, within the ceremonial camp of the Vision Quest. For this reason, we ask all dancers to arrive from August 17 onward in order to integrate properly into the spiritual and communal process.
We kindly ask those who will participate in the dance to contact the AyaPuma Samay administration in advance to coordinate arrival, food, lodging, and general logistics within the ceremonial territory.
